The USDA has released the second version of the New World Screwworm (NWS) Response Playbook and Supplemental Materials.
The original draft of the Playbook was first shared by APHIS in October 2025 for industry review and input. EWA was proud to be among the industry groups invited to review and submit feedback on that initial draft, helping ensure the interests and concerns of the exotic wildlife industry were represented during the process.
This updated version reflects continued collaboration among animal health officials, federal partners, livestock and wildlife industry organizations, tribal partners, veterinary organizations, and other key groups. As the Playbook remains an ongoing, working document, continued feedback is encouraged.
As part of the Texas NWS Response Team established by the Governor and The Screwworm Coalition of Texas, EWA is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to keep members informed as new information becomes available. In addition, EWA will be submitting feedback on this updated version of the NWS Response Playbook.
