The responses to the EWA Member Survey conducted in November are providing the Board of Directors and staff with valuable insights that will help guide the organization’s future direction. A total of 1,330 surveys were distributed, resulting in a response rate of 9.2 percent. While participation was modest, the feedback offers meaningful perspective on the current state of EWA from the member’s viewpoint. As this was EWA’s first member survey, there is no historical data for comparison. Moving forward, the survey will be conducted annually to track trends and measure progress over time.
Survey results indicate overall satisfaction among respondents. Seventy-six percent reported being satisfied with the overall value of their EWA membership, and 85 percent stated they are likely to recommend EWA membership to others within the industry. Additionally, 77 percent expressed satisfaction with the level of support EWA provides to the industry, and 85 percent were satisfied with EWA’s communications. Complete survey results, including a summary of member comments, are available below.
The survey also highlights opportunities for improvement. EWA’s strategic objectives for 2026 include expanding both voting and non-voting membership, increasing the overall value of membership, and developing and promoting impactful, sustainable “Conservation through Commerce” educational content, partnerships, and programs. Additional priorities include building a long-term, sustainable advocacy program at both the state and federal levels to support and protect exotic wildlife and the exotic wildlife industry, as well as establishing a comprehensive Board development plan and process.
There is significant work ahead as EWA continues to strengthen its value to members and to the broader exotic animal industry. We sincerely thank all members who participated in the survey for their honest feedback and continued support as EWA grows and evolves.
