About Us
EWA Conservation Foundation
Founded in 1995 by the Exotic Wildlife Association, the EWA Conservation Foundation (formerly the Second Ark Foundation) supports global conservation, focusing on preserving endangered species and their habitats. Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Foundations work includes species reintroduction and supporting conservation projects worldwide.
Through its conservation initiatives, the EWA Conservation Foundation has become a leading force in global wildlife preservation. We are proud of the lasting impact we’ve had on species conservation, habitat protection, and the development of innovative strategies to address the challenges facing wildlife today. Our work continues to inspire individuals, organizations, and governments worldwide to act in the best interest of wildlife and the planet.
Key Achievement
Anti-Poaching Efforts
In 2024, the EWA Conservation Foundation, in conjunction with the Exotic Wildlife Association, launched a new anti-poaching initiative by sponsoring a Zambezi Delta Conservation helicopter in Zimbabwe. This helicopter is essential for monitoring and combating poaching in critical wildlife areas, enhancing anti-poaching patrols, and contributing to the safety and preservation of numerous species,.
Key Achievement
Species Reintroduction
The EWA Conservation Foundation has been instrumental in the reintroduction of endangered species to their countries of origin. Notably, in partnership with the Sahara Conservation Fund, the Foundation helped reintroduce Scimitar-Horned Oryx to Senegal. Additionally, the Foundation has supported the reintroduction of Dama Gazelles, Addax, and Markhor in the Middle East, ensuring genetic diversity and species survival in their natural habitats.
Key Achievement
Dama Gazelle Conservation
Since 2014, the Foundation has been deeply involved in Dama Gazelle conservation. In September 2024, the Foundation hosted the third Dama Gazelle Symposium, bringing together 33 experts from 3 continents, 6 countries, and 12 exotic ranches. The symposium addressed conservation strategies, research, and the ongoing efforts to secure the future of Dama Gazelles both in the U.S. and abroad.
