EWA’s Commitment to Veterinary Education and Wildlife Conservation

For more than five years, the Exotic Wildlife Association (EWA) has proudly supported a Texas A&M Study Abroad program that immerses veterinary students in hands-on training with plains and big game species in South Africa. Through capture, treatment, and transport experiences, students gain invaluable exposure to wildlife medicine and its vital role in conservation.

The program’s goal is to inspire early-career veterinary students to consider incorporating exotic and wildlife medicine into their future practices here in the United States. Healthy wildlife populations depend on skilled veterinarians, and there is no better classroom than the field, guided by some of the most experienced wildlife veterinarians in South Africa.

By investing in this program, EWA is helping to shape the next generation of veterinarians and ensuring the long-term health and sustainability of the exotic wildlife industry.
