Conservation Video Auction

It seems the older you get the faster time goes by. We are already into the first week of March and it feels like we just finished Christmas. EWA has been on a fast and furious schedule during 2023 and the pace has not let up during the first three months of 2024.

In my 22 years with EWA, the 57th Annual Membership Meeting is shaping up to be one of the best in the history of the Exotic Wildlife Association. For the first time ever, we will have the 1st annual fallow buck draft. This should be an exciting event and give the players the opportunity to purchase genetics from 30 different bucks with outstanding bloodlines. The Elite Fallow and Axis auction, Friday night is a lineup of the 20 top bloodlines in the fallow registry, 10 top bloodlines in the axis registry and an offering of four blackbuck lots from some of our registered bloodlines in the blackbuck registry.

We have a tremendous auction Saturday afternoon offering 138 lots and 43 different species consigned by some of the top breeders in the African hoofstock industry. For those wanting to get into different species, or who may be buying for the first time, there is something for everyone. From all indications the market for exotics still promises to be strong. As more and more onerous regulations are placed on whitetail breeders the exotic industry is very appealing.

We are having great entertainment on both Friday and Saturday night. Music legend, Gary P. Nunn will be our guest entertainer on Friday night and the up-and-coming group, The Cadillac Three, will entertain our attendees on Saturday evening.

The membership meeting starts Thursday afternoon with seminars on AI and Antler Scoring and a meet and greet with Dr. Rob & Jennifer Grahn from UC Davis. In the evening we will have our Texas “Hold em” tournament. There are several seminars planned for Friday afternoon with industry experts. Saturday morning is EWA’s election of directors and business meeting, Saturday noon, Texas State Representative, Ernest Bailes, Texas District 18 and U.S. Congressman, Tony Gonzales, Congressional District 23, will be our luncheon speakers, followed by the Exotic Conservation Auction after lunch. The event will conclude Saturday night with the presentation of special awards, our grand auction, casino and The Cadillac Three.

As promised the event will be entertaining for all our attendees. EWA’s members are this association’s greatest resource. Without you we could not do what we do. Please do not hesitate to contact any of our staff or directors should you need anything during the weekend.
